            1. THREAD Heavily considering not branding myself as an SJW in my essays anymore

When I started writing about anime I the goal was to call myself an SJW and just be right. To be the one SJW the right couldn't just hand wave away and ignore. I wanted to make media criticism so thorough and insightful that apolitical/centrist types were left feeling like...

... maybe being an SJW isn't the worst thing in the world. I wanted to decouple the idea that being a weeb means you can't care about women's rights, LGBT people etc. And you know people have reached out to me and told me I've done exactly that 🥰 And yet

I don't think I anticipated how many leftists have the same fundamental views on intersectionality as the right does, just with some bullshit Marx said sprinkled on top.

I used to be as reactionary as they come. I used to think that Anita Sarkeesian was a raving lunatic coming for my rights. I used to think intersectionality was burning a tire on a college campus because of a problematic Halloween costume....

... I used to think being trans meant you thought there were 67849+ genders and I used to think Marxism meant you wanted to start a genocide. I don't anymore thankfully. It's been an imperfect, three or so year realignment process that will continue for a very long time

But a lot of these new leftists haven't fundamentally changed? Obviously on surface level policy they have and that's nice but their fundamental attitude towards the world hasn't changed. Like

When these leftists think of feminism, they think of big red screaming at them about privilege. When they think of LGBT rights, they think of dyed hair and pronouns. When they think of black rights, they think of safe spaces and anti-white racism.

(ASIDE: go back and listen to the original clip that inspired the big red stereotype. You'll realize she's right about everything she says and she doesn't owe it to the MRAs she's talking to to be nice. It was only "bad optics" because she was a loud woman with an opinion)

It's a specific kind of right-left conversation that cuts out the part where you need to systematically question your biases and skips to the part where we blame all our problems on capitalism instead of Jewish Marxist professors.

It's surreal that if I get a comment on a video or essay calling me a woke SJW, I don't actually know if it's a reactionary or a dirtbag leftist. Not just surreal it's disgusting. I don't want to contribute to it. So maybe being the "unironic snime SJW" isn't the right move
