                  1. I just finished Toradora and so now you get to read my thoughts on Toradora. Or not, idk. Anyway: Toradora good, but it made me personally feel like garbage.

The big secret with all of my work is I really just smack a popular anime with a Marxist/feminist/CRT/postcolonial critical lens and see what comes out. I take on an informal tone and throw in memes and jokes because my shit is already long. Long + formal would prob just be cruel

Toradora doesn't lend itself to that very well. It's "problematic" in some ways I could get into I guess? But it wouldn't be an interesting conversation because what I think could be improved politically isn't important to the story it's trying to tell. Not to mention...

...for every "problematic" thing Toradora does it does 10 more progressive things that I'd like to see more of in anime, so. Yes unlike what the reactionaries tell me on the regular I don't complain if there's no point.

Toradora is a story about love. Love for family. Love for friends. Love for your SO. Love for people you hate. Self love Love for people you won't see again. Does it exist? Will you ever find it? The anime explores these ideas with precision that's hard to find anywhere else.

I kind of have a touchy relationship with love. I'm not sure it exists. Or, if it does, I'm not sure it's something I'm capable of feeling. Because of this the show kind of got on my nerves? Even though it was doing nothing wrong!

Like towards the end when the main characters try and elope before they're even 18. These people haven't even kissed before and they're convinced they've found true love? Or like, when multiple characters will wax philosophical about the nature of human interaction like...

I want to do a big Toradora video essay but it would be fundamentally different from the stuff I do normally. I think I'm okay with that though. There's a lot going on
