              1. Unrelated from anything but I *really* don't like any of the Star Wars Sequels. They're, like, bad. Yes even The Last Jedi. Yeah this is a thread

I feel like a bunch of fascists started whining that the movies were "objectively bad" because they don't to hero's journey or whatever but it was obviously because they didn't like how the lead was a woman and there was a black stormtrooper

As a result the lefty counter reaction is like "oh wow these films are so different and good uwu". I've even heard the (laughable) claim that the films are anti capitalist because there's one scene somewhere that says war profiteering is bad.

People hyperfocus on TLJ for "subverting expectations". We expect the Jedi to be good but then they might be bad. We expect the resistance to be good but they buy weapons from corporations that profit off both sides.

But the other part of the film that's equally important is that it ends up reaffirming the status quo anyway. Luke thinks he's wrong, for a second, before realizing he was right. It's time for the Jedi to end, for a moment, before it continues under Rey w/the same base texts

TLJ basically goes "could systemic change be necessary here??" and then says "nah we good lol". If anything that's liberal, not anti-capitalist. No expectations are subverted. It asks questions before doing what you thought it would do from the beginning.

The war profiteering question is never addressed in TLJ and dropped entirely in the next film. It has no bearing on the plot and isn't worth talking about. It's quite literally virtue signaling and lefties eat it up because we're desperate and have no standards

Finn is piss-poor black representation. His actions have no impact on the plot for three whole movies. If black characters do not have the ability to change the story THEY DO NOT HAVE AGENCY. PERIOD.

My man Finn follows people around for 9 hours or screentime which is a shame because John Boyega is putting in work to get real representation of black and African stories in media.

I could go on; a Star Wars Sequels analysis was a whole essay idea I dropped. But the sequels are a corporate cash grab with nothing interesting to say about anything.

Man say what you want about the prequels but, even if the execution was terrible there at least were themes that were being executed instead of the flaming thematic cornhusks that that Star Wars VII-IX
