Listening to the Destiny/Vaush v Striker/Allsup debate makes me comfortable in saying that debates aren't praxis fuck debates.

As much as I don't like Destiny, and as much as I have my criticisms of Vaush, they did fine. I'm not mad at either of them. I guess if a debate had to take place I'd rather two people who know the data than not?

But to take two NAZIS on one side and progressives on the other and act like these are two equally valid positions to hold... like the jury's out on if we go for if blacks are coon monkeys who need to be removed from the country or if black people deserve equal rights.

The only way a debate against a Nazi can ever be helpful is if the debate is so heavily skewed against the Nazi that everyone agrees they've been embarrassed and discredited. But the moderator is going to stop that from happening because this is supposed to be a "fair" and...

..."unbiased" conversation where every "perspective" gets an equal amount of speaking time and it's a success as long as both sides "learned something".

And I guess there's something about being black and watching white dudes casually argue over whether I'm inherently more likely to be a violent rapist criminal subhuman or not like this is some kind of game.

I don't know how Modern-Day Debate sleeps at night knowing that, of the thousands of people who watched that debate, like half are going to come out thinking "wow Nazism sounds pretty cool actually". How is that acceptable to anyone, morally?

Maybe I sound like a child but it HURTS. Why???
