    1. This is actually a misinterpretation of the data. Diversity in this case is what's called a proxy variable. Unions are more common in rural areas than in cities, because city workers tend to be better compensated, in addition to other factors... @lporiginalg/1279825093120516098

    Cities tend to be more diverse, so diversity correlates with lower union rates. But it's not diversity that causes lower unionization rates -- it's not even the strongest factor.
