I know the Portland stuff is really distressing, but take special note of how conservatives will insist on calling all protesters "looters" when looting by-in-large hasn't taken place in these protests in months.

"Riot" may technically be applicable (if you consider property damage violence) but it too is an incredibly political term. We know that the police are using riot control as a means of expressing their own grievances against protesters. See this: apnews.com/13fc8b62d421eefd3fa29cad42c99d7f

Reactionaries use words like "looting", "rioting", and "terrorism" to justify state-repression of political dissent. What's worse, the lack of media coverage means a lot of people think the "peaceful protests" are "over", and easily buy into the right's unopposed narrative.
