Some white leftists have criticized this behavior in ways that end up just being reactionary in their own right. And by that I mean Vaush has criticized this behavior in a way I find reactionary so I wanted to provide a more useful perspective. Others as well, but also Vaush

I took a Classics sequence at my university where I was the only black student. Every author we read for an entire year was a white man, save WEB DuBois, who many professors just skip since it's literally at the end of the term near finals.
-
The only leftist we read was Marx. And he was the only author that even mentioned gender inequality whatsoever (there was 1 girl in the class). And the conversations we DID have about him started immediately from the assumption that communism as an ideology has failed.
-
I remember trying to point out ONE TIME that Locke saying Africans are inherently savage or whatever might have something to do with modern racism, getting major pushback from the class, and being branded as "the guy who makes everything about race" for the rest of the year.
-
At the end of the year, I had a pretty interesting conversation with the professor, where we talked about representation and why a Classics course seems to imply "The Classics of Western Europe". And not classical philosophy more generally.
-
And the reason for that, as it turned out, was not because my professor was HWITE and got his disgusting HWITENESS all over the syllabus. But because the Classics department is old as shit. There were many institutional barriers outside any one person's control...

...designed from the start (as in, back when eugenics was in style and through the Cold War) to push a certain ideological worldview.
-
The issue with this, then, isn't that SJW "wokescolds" keep "cancelling" people for "social capital", or whatever the fuck anti-idpol "leftists" are saying right now. The actual problem is that this analysis isn't nearly leftist *enough*. Or, "woke" enough I guess.
-
A leftist analysis of a course isn't "count the number of black authors and if it isn't above a certain arbitrary threshold it's problematic". A leftist analysis of the course would require you to... take it?
-
Pay attention to how the professor incorporates POC LGBT culture, if at all. Pay attention to if the students are allowed to do so themselves. Identify the material conditions that lead to the class turning out the way it did. Real analysis. "But you're white tho" is a meme

I'm just sick of this cycle: Some inexperienced teen: *does superficial political analysis* Reactionaries: "LOL SJW CANCEL CULTURE SNOWFLAKES ANTIFA CULTURAL MARXISTS" Leftists, for some reason: "I agree with this"
-
And I also hate the fact that we let teenagers who don't know what they're talking about represent the entire left. I'm not against teenagers being progressive. In fact, I love it. I was a reactionary when I was a teen and I envy people who are gay, furry, commies at 15. Yes!
-
But teenagers should be allowed to post cringe and learn without being dogpiled. Teenagers should be allowed to post cringe while everyone else understands that "the left" is much more than that one, temporarily cringe teenager. Makes too much sense? Idk
