        1. I think leftists who refuse to recognize Trump as a fascist are making a serious analytical error.

Generally speaking they try and look at the material result of the Trump presidency, realize it's not much different than a Bush or Obama presidency, and then go "well Trump must not be a fascist then".

If I could resurrect Hitler today and make him Prime Minister of Sweden, I doubt he'd be able to pull off another holocaust. Hitler would still be a fascist in rhetoric and would move the state towards that ideology, but he would be stopped by the internal mechanism of socdemcy

Likewise if you made me president I would do my best to move the country towards anarchism but I wouldn't establish anarchist communes in 4 years. That wouldn't suddenly not make me an anarchist. Both parties, the courts, my own executive, and state govs would stop me

For Hitler to be successful, he needed his own party that shared his ideology, he had to take over the Weimar Republic in full, and he had to appoint people from his party to positions in the state. Only then could he implement what he wanted

Trump is a fascist, but he doesn't have the power to unilaterally suspend democracy or create a one party state or anything that would be useful to fascism. So he activates the parts of libdemcy that most closely resemble fascism and goes from there

We need to recognize this for what it is because as I type this there's a whole new crop of Q-adjacent GOP'ers further right and more bold than Trump is. This movement exists solely as a backlash to the left. It will just crush us if we're not careful
