            1. I know it feels nice to be all "We owe this win to black women uwu" but the data is looking like something I suspected since the beginning: this election was a referendum on how middle income white people feel about Trump @Nate_Cohn/1328664224722247681

Voter turnout has never been higher!... for white people. Because the election was about them. This shouldn't be a surprise though. It's entirely on how Joe Biden and the Democrats ran their campaign.

If you make the election just about if Trump is a good or bad president, if you reject every policy discussion as a distraction or division, then the people who feel like stuff wasn't all that great before Trump aren't gonna care

Also explains why Dems got wiped out down-ballot. A lot of cushy white people feel icky about Trump specifically. But they DON'T feel icky about any of his policies. And they ESPECIALLY hate progressives and the left. If they were the deciding demographic it checks out

And of course black people came out, and the ones that did voted overwhelmingly for Dems as usual. I'm trying to say that Biden and his allies told us he was a settle candidate, and that addressing our issues in any way would scare "moderate Republicans". So... here we are

If you see "oh Trump made gains with people of color" yeah because a bunch of poor and progressives POC just didn't bother so the wacky GOP token vote went up by percent. Stuff like "the soul of our democracy" and "the forces of hope" are shit white people care about
