        Yeah see, this is essentially what doesn't work about the show. We've got a world war type situation with mass displacement/death but we never... see it? It doesn't affect any of the characters. We waste time on fluffy cute girl hijinks instead

          It's part of a general problem I also have with Re:Zero, in which interesting things will exist in the world but the writer will refuse to explore them in any way

            So in this arc, pink girl is mad at new girl because in the past new girl sabotaged pink girl's plane so she wouldn't fight and then new girl got hurt. But what if instead, civilians got hurt because they were one fighter down? What if they had to carry the weight...
