      On a surface level: they're both incredibly skilled in observation and remarkably intelligent, as you'd expect. Moriarty is a working class person who rose to the aristocracy while Sherlock is the reverse. That much is fairly straightforward but cool

    But I also love how the two have entirely different relationships to capitalism. Moriarty owns his home and he shares it with his family and allies. He rarely hires anyone, despite being a consultant. He doesn't take jobs either, instead just offering people catharsis...

      ...crime mutual aid if you will. (The text calls it mutual aid lmao) Sherlock is the opposite. His life is decidedly capitalistic. He has a landlord. He takes jobs on commission or he starves. When he needs help he hires it, and he works with the police to "solve" crime.

        There are other little things too. For example rumors that a noble hunted working class people for sport were not investigated by parliament until Moriarty applied pressure through his crime. In a worse show, Moriarty would probably use his smarts to overthrow the government...

          ... himself. But here he rejects this as impossible, opting instead to agitate the working class to revolution. Moriarty and his friends are basically an affinity group doing direct action. Obviously the direct action involves murder because this is an anime but still.

            Moriarty isn't subtle in its hatred of class. But not being subtle != not well thought out. There's a ton wrapped into the text but it still wants to make sure it's fun. It's night and day between watching Moriarty and something politically confused like Fire Force or MWZ
