I think this comes, in part, from a desire not to hyperfixate on Trump as uniquely terrible (most of the stuff he's done is par for the course for the US gov) or to paint the Dems as a fundamental change.Permalink On twitter.com

But I think this swings too far in the opposite direction, where leftists will just not engage in anti-fascism at all. They'll say like Trump and the militias to his right aren't fascists, and something like "American leftists want to fight everything except the bourgeoisie"On twitter.com

This misunderstands, I think, the core function of fascism. Fascism and liberalism aren't distinct things. Liberalism grows fascism to use as a tool against the left. You can't *just* focus in capital and not fight fascists that don't make sense.Permalink On twitter.com
