  1. Was reading the US state department's description of the end of apartheid and realized it's not at all a coincidence that apartheid ended only after the USSR collapsed 2001-2009.state.gov/r/pa/ho/time/pcw/98678.htm

      South Africa occupied Namibia and actively fought to sabotage communism in Angola. Being pro apartheid was essentially justified as being anti communism, which was somehow supposed to be worse, of course

        The US pats itself on the back for leading the sanction effort that ended apartheid, but it, the UK and France watered down sanction efforts in the UN for decades up until Cuba and the USSR backed out of Angola in the late 80s
