Main thing bugging me about Re Zero right now is how it storytells. Normal stories are usually organized something like 1. Context for Event A 2. Event A ... N. Recontextualize Event A @ZechtheMortal/1373693409173458945

But Re:Zero tends to do 1. Event A ... N. Context for Event A where N can sometimes be very large

As an example, in S1E3, Felt gets taken away because the insignia shines. Then in S1E4 we learn the insignia recognizes people who are fit for the royal selection. Then in S1E13 Felt comes back as a candidate.

So S1E3 makes sense eventually, but it doesn't have an impact when you see it because the setup comes after the reveal. It's like telling a joke in punchline and for some bizarre reason most important plot points in Re:Zero are handled this way.

Re:Zero fans like Mother's Basement praise the show for being smart and forcing you to pay super extra attention to it and rewatch it to fully understand what it's trying to say. But in reality it's just confusing. I like Baccano!, so out of order stories aren't my problem here
