Yasuke's storytelling structure definitely feels more Western than anime? I don't have it to where I can say what it is specifically, but we've noted that much of it feels like a blend of a comic book (X-Men specifically) and a fighting gamePermalink On twitter.com

Are there socialist vibes? Not really. But, I remain impressed by how Yasuke naturally emphasizes where, say, women or gay people would have existed in Japan during this period and tells their story. A lazy author would say "well there were no X in 16th century Japan"Permalink On twitter.com
