I like how, despite how relentlessly hyped Chainsaw Man is, I've yet to see a normal screenshot of this story. They are all completely unhinged and disorienting out of context. Anyway this is the Chainman watch thread. We haven't done these in a while
-
"What about G-Witch?" I may watch that with Raghava, and if I do I'd rather not stop every 5 minutes to live-tweet. Rag has no interest in Chainsaw Man, tho, so we're good on this front

okay technical difficulties sorry
-
character in debt is always a promising place to start
-
fun fact I was supposed to read it before now, and then i didn't so. there you go
-
So I have seen "the touch of a woman melts the spikey facade of a man angry at the world" before. It's too early to comment on if it's good or meh here, but I have seen it plenty of times by now
-
fuck okay I'm pretty tired but I did have initial thoughts right. based on what I've seen so far the story seems to be about power, and the things people will do to try to get it. But the story uses a very interesting definition of power, which is...
-
...the ability to assert your will in an environment. the ability to have things go your way. Believing in yourself, or sawing all the guys, is not power if you can't go home and have bread with jam on it.
-
show also recognizes money as a system that mediates power. all in all it's much more thoughtful than the average seasonal anime. I'm super tempted to read a bunch of chapters before the next episode
-
I have my fair share of... not criticism, but things I will look out for and hope they don't turn my off the show. I don't feel like listing them because I am tired, but if someone asks I'll answer you tomorrow
