    1. So I had some thoughts on the whole "former fascist" discourse but I've been busy. I was typing up a whole 20+ thread but I think I can boil it down.

    1. Liberalism and its edgy culture-war double conservatism have an ideological stranglehold on the United States. Just like liberals, conservatives are often conservative by default, or because they correctly identify the issues of liberalism and don't know any alternatives.

      2. Because of 1., we should probably be accommodating to working class conservatives who have an interest in communism. Don't hide the fact that they're going to have to actively combat their internal bigotry. But yeah we should want workers to be communists and help them do so

        3. At least in the US, no one is a fascist by default. Like, there's no cultural background radiation pushing people to think the holocaust didn't happen, or that women should lose the right to vote, or join the Proud Boys.

          4. Because of 3., it's dangerous to let reformed fascists into many leftist spaces. For one they could be lying and seeking to do actual harm. Also we can never know if whatever drove them to embrace Nazism has been properly addressed.
